All about IIT-CEED Exam

The objective of the Common Entrance Exam for Design (CEED) is to assess the candidate’s aptitude for design involving visual perception ability, drawing skills, logical reasoning, creativity, communication, and problem-solving skills. CEED is conducted by IIT Bombay. It is a qualifying examination for admission to Master of Design (MDes) programmes at IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIITDM Jabalpur, and IIT Kanpur, and to Ph.D programmes in Design at IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, and IIT Kanpur.

CEED Eligibility– Candidates must have passed a degree / diploma / postgraduate degree programme of 4 years or 3+2 years (after 10+2 level), or must be appearing for the final examination of such a program by July 2018, or must have passed the GD Arts diploma programme (10+5 level) by July 2017. There is no age limit to appear for CEED. Besides, a candidate can appear for CEED any number of times.

CEED Exam Pattern – The CEED examination will be conducted in two parts. All candidates must answer both the parts.

Part A:The Part A is a computer-based screening test. It evaluates visualization and spatial ability, environmental and social awareness, analytical and logical reasoning, language and creativity, observation and design sensitivity. Candidates who are shortlisted in Part A using the method mentioned in the admission brochure will qualify for the evaluation of Part B.
Part B: Part B evaluates drawing, creativity, communication skills, and analytical and problem-solving skills. Part B scores will be calculated using the method mentioned in the admission brochure.

The final CEED score will be calculated by giving 25% weightage to marks obtained in Part A marks and 75% weightage to scores obtained in Part B

Design Aspirants’ Pedagogy for CEED – Since CEED is a different exam the preparation also needs to be different. As the Part A of the exam is an online exam, we have prepared special software for the students which replicate real CEED environment and question type.
